This icon denotes biodegradable packaging that offers a green alternative to regular polythene. This category covers two main types of packaging: compostable bags and bio-additive bags - find out more about both from the respective sections below.
This icon denotes packaging made from compostable material with a minimum 30% renewable content share. These products first disintegrate (within 12 weeks) and then biodegrade (within six months) into CO2, water and biomass, in line with industrial composting standard EN13432.
Products displaying this icon are made from polythene containing an additive that accelerates the degradation process. On disposal, these eco-friendly products break down into small fragments before biodegrading into carbon dioxide, water and humus.
