Compostability standard EN13432 - criteria

This product conforms to EN13432 - the industrial composting standard. This means it complies with the following testing criteria:

• 90% or more of the composted material must disintegrate into tiny pieces - small enough to fit through a 2mm x 2mm mesh - within 12 weeks.
• At least 90% of the composted material must have biodegraded - into water, CO2 and biomass - within six months
• The composted material must not negatively affect the quality of any compost to which it is added
• It must also adhere to strict limits for a number of toxic elements, including zinc, copper, mercury and other heavy metals

We recommend that these compostable bin liners are stored in their original packaging, away from direct sources of heat, moisture or sunlight to best preserve the quality of the product. Use within 12 months.

Strong clear compostable wheelie bin liner - disposal options

These bags are designed to completely biodegrade in industrial composting conditions (see EN13432), so please use them to line your food or organic waste wheelie bin, so they can be collected and disposed of along with their contents (you may wish to tie a knot in the top).

The bags can be composted at home in theory. However, not only will this process take much longer (does not meet EN13432 timescales), but most home composters will not be big enough to fit a full wheelie bin liner and the bags are designed to fit a wheelie bin so, all in all, they are best used for lining a wheelie bin.

If composting is not an option, please throw these bags away with your regular domestic waste. Not suitable for recycling.
