Large compostable packing bag (40 micron) features
- 40-micron thick clear bag - twice as thick as traditional compostable bags.
- Clear compostable material appears frosted in comparison to traditional clear polythene.
- Made from compostable material with a minimum 30% renewable content share.
- Complies with European compostable standard EN13432.
- Designed to break down in 12 weeks and biodegrade in six months in industrial composting conditions.
- Suitable for domestic composting, but this process will take longer (timescale will vary according to composting conditions).
- Food-safe material - suitable for direct food contact.

EN13432 - the European compostable standard
As a compostable product, this bag must meet criteria set out by European standard EN13432 (industrial composting). These include:
- Disintegration - after 12 weeks, no more than 10% of material may remain when sifted through a 2mm sieve.
- Biodegradability - 90% of material must decompose within 6 months.
- Compostability - there must be no negative effects on the composting process.
- Chemicals - threshold tests for heavy metals must be adhered to; all constituent elements must be disclosed.
- Ecotoxicity - compost featuring the material must not negatively affect plant growth.
Compostable packing bag storage
These compostable packing bags should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat and humidity. Use within 12 months.
End of life options - compostable packing bags
After use, this bag should be disposed of (with or without food contents) in a food waste bin (for industrial composting), or a domestic composting unit. If these are not possible, please place in your general rubbish bin. Not suitable for recycling.
