Shelf life and storage instructions
These biodegradable waste sacks have a shelf-life of 12 months from the date of manufacture. This is due to the bio-additive used during manufacturing which accelerates the degradation process.
Prolonged exposure to either heat or direct sunlight risks triggering the degradation process prematurely, so please store these bags in a cool, dry and dark place to maximise their shelf life.
How to dispose of biodegradable refuse sacks
- Food waste collection - Do not throw this refuse sack in your organic waste bin along with food or garden waste, as it is not suitable for industrial composting. Instead, see our range of compostable waste bags.
- Home compost - This bag may be home composted if the disposal conditions are suitable - presence of oxygen, heat, light, mechanical stress and microorganisms - but this process could take several years (actual time depends on disposal environment).
- Recycling - This refuse sack can be recycled along with other polythene bags provided it has not yet begun to degrade.
- General waste - This waste sack is suitable for general waste disposal as a last resort option. It will degrade in landfill much quicker than regular polythene waste sacks.
