Polybags Environmental Policy
Polybags recognises that consideration for the environment is an integral part of its commercial operations and that it has an obligation to ensure good environmental performance. Polybags management will provide the necessary organisation, commitment and training to fulfil this obligation.
We are committed to the following:
- Incorporating environmental responsibility into all business operations.
- Implementing waste minimisation procedures.
- Pursuing continuous improvement in environmental performance, especially in relation to resource use, waste production and recycling.
- Complying with all relevant and future legislation.
- Maintaining effective internal communication on environmental matters.
The following areas have been identified as key to ensuring that any adverse environmental impact is minimised:
Raw Materials
We will look to invest in machinery and processes to minimise material usage, for example through down-gauging and high performance films
Material Movement
Raw material movement and storage is a significant part of the production process. We are committed to silo storage to minimise transport and unloading costs as well as avoid the need for baling sacks.
Re-cycling
The development of efficient re-cycling is absolutely essential to our industry. At Polybags, we collect all plastic waste material where the resources consumed in collecting and re-cycling are less than the resources freed by the re-use.
All in-house production waste is pelletized and re-extruded to produce recycled film that customers are incentivised to purchase.
Product Development
In conjunction with re-cycling, we support the development of renewable raw materials to help facilitate the move from non-renewable raw materials.
Staff
Our staff are urged to consider the environmental impact of actions both at and away from work. In particular, we stress sensible measures with regard to lighting, heating and use of water on the premises.
Everyone can participate and contribute to the success of this policy through their actions and we will respond positively to all suggestions.
We believe in action-based policies and will gladly provide details of environmental initiatives on request.
