Freezer-grade bags

Freezer bags Freezer-grade polythene bags are manufactured from low-density polythene (LDPE) with an ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) additive that prevents the polythene from cracking at low temperatures.

Polythene becomes brittle when placed in very cold temperatures, which means that regular polythene bags can crack up when placed in a freezer, potentially contaminating the bag contents.

EVA is an elastomeric polymer that, when added to polythene, makes the material softer and more flexible, whilst improving stress-crack resistance and strength at low temperatures.

The EVA additive in Polybags' range of freezer-bags keeps the polythene flexible and prevents cracking at temperatures as low as -30°C.

Domestic freezers operate at a temperature of -18°C - in line with Food Standards Agency guidelines - which means that you can rely on them to remain fully intact and flexible when placed in your freezer, either at home or in a commercial kitchen.
